Antarctica – Thursday 18th November, 2004

We have changed time zones and get an extra hour in bed tonight. The weather is fine when we get up, and gets sunnier as the day goes on. My seasickness has finally gone and my appetite has returned.

This mornings sightings are mostly cape petrels but lunch is disrupted by the sighting of a sperm whale. Then later in the afternoon we have a close encounter with a couple of fin whales one swimming right under the boat. The day is rounded off with a couple of talks about the Falklands and Zodiac landing procedures
