Shongololo Dune Express – Friday 8th September

This morning is the Walvis bay tour we should have done Wednesday afternoon. Jimmy is Driving and warns us that some of it will repeat what we saw Yesterday. However we hope for better / closer flamingo pictures – only to be dashed by the tide being out! We visit dune 7, but more interesting than the dune (how much sand do you really need in a holiday?) is the nearby film set for 10000 BC, so we elect to go spy on that instead. We don’t see any film stars, but do see some horses, and a horses stunt double! (Lois says ‘I’m sure that horse is stuffed !’) we also see the ‘Martin Luther’ train, but it is in a tiny wooden and glass case and impossible to photograph.

Others on the bus are flying this afternoon, so I get Jimmy to drop me at the aquarium then walk back up town via the craft market, T-shirt shop and snake garden also taking in the impressive German architecture.
